3 miles- slow and easy... my life!
Friday morning I surfed with a long time friend- and a Friday surfing buddy... when I'm surfing. Paddled at maybe 3 waves- didn't stand up on any of them... that's ok. An incredible morning with much better surf than we'd expected. My board, laying in the wild flowers growing next to the sand.
Pushed myself out into the fog. Ran just one other day this week... not sure which day. This guy was in the middle of the road, dodging cars and they did some kind of construction or repair. It's always something.

3 miles- very easy... not too slow... just easy
Saturday, March 7, 2009
2 and a half hours... not sure how many miles
after a few miles- turned down this trail onto what we use to call "Edna's Run"
Everything was green and beautiful... felt just a bit like running away.
GLOVES!!! Everywhere I run I come across random gloves! Who loses them all?
after a run filled with many adventures- lot's of sight seeing and no small amount of nostalgia... my eventual destination: Dad and Mom's grave... Mom's been gone 9 months, Dad, just over 2 weeks... feels like forever... feels like it couldn't be possible.
this...? well this is here because I didn't know how I'd ever be able to adequately describe it. No clue what it's doing out in the middle of the fields or why it is the way it is... but there it is.
Last 2 miles- after over 2 hours out -were brutal. Debi even called my cell phone, worried about me. She never does that. Think I just needed to clear my head. Buried another friend today. God Speed Carol.

6 miles... very slow
you learn something everyday...
Found these little boxes filled with pretty little bottles in them- never know what someone leaves behind. Didn't have my glasses on so I snapped a photo and left them on the side of the road. Googled the name when I got home: tequila... who knew? Appropriately, I fell down on my run today... the two weren't connected.
Didn't run last month... not once. Dedicated the month to listening in prayer. Then dad died on February 17th- at home, in his sleep. God is too good. Miss him though. Back at running this week.

10 Miles Easy
ran "Historic" Victoria Ave... absolutely glorious morning- cool to start. through newly planted orange groves - this is a state run "tree museum" just like in the old joni mitchell song - no lie.
Up onto my final 5 miles on Gage Canal- one of the few times I've run it alone- like running with ghosts- thinking back over the thousands of miles and many friends I've run it with
So many treasures along the way- like these beautiful palm lined roads through the groves
what it's all about- sunrise on a pretty darn good looking navel- and I left it!
Great Final Run of January!

6 miles at a comfortable pace
the house that was getting torn down- it's gone. a child care center is going up.
a note to the world? As sad a thing one might find in the grass on the side of the road... yet there it was- a cry from a mother...
on the backside- this photo of her son. No #, name, nothing. That's it.
more gloves... I'm getting a little paranoid... is someone trying to tell me something?
It was a gorgeous day- warm, clear and windy. Felt fantastic. Retired my Mizuno Nirvana 4's. Got a brand new pair- in a different color -just waiting to hit the road. Hope they last til the "5's" come down in price.
Found a quarter coming up the hill. a good day.

6 Miles - a little faster

Sunday Run... 6 miles... slow and very easy
gorgeous morning- cool and perfect for running. just a few miles south west of this spot- in the same vein of fields -they have 24 hour security watching over a woolly mammoth tusk that was exposed after the last rains. These fields always looked perfect for herds of huge mammoths! Got to wonder what killed them off.

12 Miles... FUN! The REAL January, 17th post
from the highest spot on my run... looking out towards Mt Baldy... I've run to the top of that too!
You never know where you might find a spa... or where you might need one!
gloves... how do people lose so many? gloves and shoes... each with their own story
near the end of my run- a self portrait -just made a little over 12, Debi drove by me coming into town and offered me a ride... I can't resist her! But should have gone over 14 today.
6 Miles... really nice- Thursday, January 15 - ignore that big date!

summary of the last few days
easy 6... Thursday morning trail
our local firefighters- waiting for toxic clean up crew... I'd been wondering what that was on the side of the road- they were wondering too.
Friday morning- ditched my run to surf with Steve and my son John- great time together- nice paddle for me.
The rest of the day Friday- no bueno! at endodontist... ouch!
sunrise in front of my house- back at it this morning... easy 3

late run - 6 miles - pushed it some
Monday, January 5, 2009
Sunday - 6 miles easy, Monday- 5 miles... gentle start
Saturday, January 3, 2009
12 plus miles... back at the long run
ran through the oranges today... so few places on the planet to do this
first had to go to the top of the hill... just a couple years ago this was all oranges and we ran through it with great joy...
the caped crusader... battered, broken and left in the gutter... no wonder he's called "The Dark Knight!"
Riverside's navel oranges- the best in the world and perfect for picking right now... these two were "liberated" to help a weary runner!
The fields a mile out my doorstep- covered with drizzle this morning -looking just a bit Jurassic!
A great run... even more, a great time outside.
